Channel configuration

Subtrees

To keep SmartInstant channels separate from "normal" channels all front-end channels must be configured to use only selected subtrees. The following subtrees are needed for SmartInstant specifically:

• SmartInstant Assets
  Contains Smartlets that are specific for SmartInstant, images, and helper items like polls.
• SmartInstant Configuration
  Contains Translations, JavaScript, CSS, Rendertemplates and ELBA elements etc. that are used in all SmartInstant designs.
• SmartInstant Design
  Contains the following folders
  • Layouts
    Row Contenttype Layouts
  • Design
    JS, CSS and images
  • Common
    Content that is linked from header and footer rows throughout the design.
  • Channels
    Channel definition(s) for the channels that use this design.
  • Rendertemplates
    Contains the rendertemplate for this design. All SmartInstant render templates are basically the same, but separate ones are created to couple different editor CSS items.
• SmartInstant Content ("Welkom bij SmartInstant 2.0")
  Contains all content to be rendered on the SmartInstant channel(s)

Other channels may need different subtrees and Shared Configuration and Shared Applications are used by all channels.

Design

The design used by a SmartInstant channel is always the grandparent item of the channel item.
