SmartInstant installation
Prerequisites
In order to correctly have SmartInstant 2.0 installed on a Smartsite instance, some manual configuration settings are needed. Note that on a newly deployed EmptySix database of version 1.4 build 2 or later, no manual configurations are needed and this entire section can be skipped.
Guidelines beneath starting point: EmptySix 1.3 database.
Update
Update Smartsite database to 1.4 build 2. This is necessary for functioning with 1.4 build 2 binaries but insufficient for SmartInstant installation. Please rever to this page for database update guidelines.
New items
Add folder of type CWP with code SHARED_APPLICATIONS. Do not forget to add this item as a folder. It is recommended to add this folder in the root of the site.
Note: every newly installed Add-On module will be placed here. It is highly recommended to manually move the already installed Add-On modules.
Sub Trees
At least four sub trees are needed. Please add them if not already there:
- Site root(s) of current content. (e.g. Welcome to EmptySix)
- Shared Configuration (e.g. settings needed for all browsable channels)
- The current framework. (e.g. EmptySix Framework)
- Newly created folder Shared Applications
Configure all browseable channels to only include the selected subtrees in the channel and include at least the four named sub trees for the existing default browsable channel.
After adding sub trees, make sure the current site is still operational before continuing installation of SmartInstant.
After installing SmartInstant, three channels will be added with corresponding sub trees.
Installing SmartInstant
In order to install SmartInstant, please rever to this item for proper guidelines.
Channels
The installation script creates three new channels (CHA, CHB and CHC). If the channels section in Smartsite.config doesn't contain a wildcard definition, these channels need to be added to the configuration.
